Comprised of 2 school districts and 2 arts organizations in the Kansas City Metro area, the KS/MO Kennedy Center Partners in Education is dedicated to inspiring the artist within by providing arts integration professional development and support for local teachers.
We teach the teacher and are inspired by the ripple effect. When we provide an educator with innovative tools to help them in their teaching – they then provide students with engaging and memorable learning experiences.
The Partners in Education program is a national partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Established in 1991, the program is designed to assist arts organizations throughout the nation to develop or expand educational partnerships with their local school systems. The primary purpose of these school/community partnerships is to promote the professional learning of teachers.
We believe that the professional development of teachers
is an essential component of efforts to
include the arts in education for young people.
The Kennedy Center defines arts integration: "An approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area to meet evolving objectives in both”.
